Palm Jumeirah is one of the greatest symbols of Dubai’s extravagance. In fact, this artificial island is shaped like a date palm with 17 fronds. It is primarily a residential neighborhood with many luxury villas and private homes. However, as a visitor, there are a few must-see attractions! Have fun at Aquaventure Water Park or the Lost Chambers Aquarium, or get a bird’s-eye view from The View observatory!

The Best of Palm Jumeirah

Palm Jumeirah is a must-see attraction in Dubai. To really appreciate it, you’ll need to get a bird’s-eye view! But even on solid ground, you won’t be bored 🙂 A water park, an observatory, a promenade, shopping… There are plenty of activities waiting for you here!

What to Do in Palm Jumeirah?

    Palm Monorail

This is practically the only way to get to Palm Jumeirah. The monorail takes you from Dubai all the way to the tip of the island. It’s a mode of transportation that’s both convenient and quite fun. You’ll see magnificent panoramic views, particularly of Dubai Marina, but of course also of the island’s luxury hotels and villas.
Travel from one end to the other in just 20 minutes.

    Atlantis Hotel

One of Dubai’s most iconic hotels, the Atlantis Hotel, is located on Palm Jumeirah. With its architecture inspired by the myth of Atlantis, this 5-star hotel is truly impressive. It features 1,539 rooms and suites and offers numerous recreational facilities.
Like the Burj Al Arab, you can’t really walk around freely inside, but there are several ways to get in. You can stay overnight, dine there (but be prepared to spend a fair amount), or visit the water park or the aquarium.
Otherwise, you can simply admire it from The Pointe, on the other side of the waterfront. You’ll see the hotel in the distance and can take a magnificent photo.

The aquarium, located within the Atlantis resort complex, draws inspiration from the myth and is said to represent this lost city at the bottom of the sea.

You can walk through tunnels and labyrinths where dozens of species swim all around you. It’s a magnificent place!

    The View at The Palm

Opened just in 2021, The View is a new observation deck located on Palm Jumeirah. It’s one of the best places to see this palm-shaped island. In fact, to truly appreciate the sheer size and grandeur of this island, you have to see it from above. Head up to the 52nd floor of this 240-meter-tall building and get ready to be blown away.
Not only can you enjoy the view, but there’s also an interactive exhibition that explains the construction of The Palm. It’s now one of our must-see attractions in Dubai!

Shopping

Nakheel Mall

This is one of Dubai’s many luxury shopping malls. It is located in the same building as The View at The Palm observation deck. It is much smaller than better-known malls like the Dubai Mall, but the selection of stores is quite diverse. There is also a wide variety of restaurants.

Palm Islands

Palm Jumeirah was built between 2001 and 2008. This neighborhood is part of a larger project called “Palm Islands.” The project involves the construction of three palm-shaped islands:

  • Palm Jebel Ali was a project that had been on hold for several years. Construction and development of this island are expected to resume. The goal is to create a pleasant residential environment. A large number of luxury suites and hotels are expected to be built there over the next few years.
  • Palm Deira was supposed to be the third palm-shaped island. After design delays, the “Palm Deira” project became “Deira Islands” and is now called “Dubai Islands.” It is therefore no longer a palm-shaped island located off the coast of the Deira district, but rather a group of five islands that are currently still under construction.
  • And, of course, Palm Jumeirah.
